Looking for a QA Manager for a Leading UK company/ Job location: Beirut.
For a leading UK company founded in 1995 to develop cross-media publishing, news management and editorial sharing systems.
Outside the UK, the company has an office in Beirut, Lebanon. Its client base extends over four continents with well-known names as Independent News and Media.
The company's solutions include:
- News management systems for media organizations such as newspapers and multimedia publishers.
- News delivery systems which enable online customers to choose minute by minute what content they receive and then to take actions on it, working with such partners as Dow Jones and Associated Press
- Editorial sharing and archive solutions, especially designed for large publication groups wanting to share editorial content dynamically across existing editorial systems.
The candidate will be based in Beirut.
The candidate should have:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science
- Minimum 3 years of experience
- Field of Expertise: QA and Development
Initial key goal for this position:
The current QA has been carried out by ad hoc testing and in this position the QA Manager is being asked to give the development team a stronger methodology and turn it to an efficient test-driven development group improving results both for fitness-for-purpose and correctness-first-time.
Position:
The QA Manager will be a member of the Development Management group
The QA Manage will show leadership to the development staff and will also be asked to take responsibility deputizing for the Development Operations Manager, Beirut.
The QA Manager specific tasks in addition to the key goal include:
- Driving the quality of features and products through solid, effective test methods
- Reviewing and testing functional / design specifications
- Planning, improving, managing QA activities
- Becoming an expert in your features and product areas: (Publish live newsroom, Java-based GWT Rich Internet apps, Adobe integration, Video, Web and Mobile applications and other apps.)
- Building strong working relationships with Dev/PM counterparts
- Improving efficiency of the team through automation improvements, process improvements, and adopting new test methodologies
- Improving effectiveness by identifying the right set of test cases to test and automate
- Perform low level testing and implement higher level test automation
- Build up the company’s testing/QA’s activity from a test-oriented development approach
- Preparation of release notes and other release documentation
- Configure and maintain VM test infrastructure
- Responsible for nightly product builds - deploying and maintaining test installations
- Undertaking development / test mentoring and participating in development when appropriate.
