Engineering Computer Lab Supervisor - LAU - Lebanon

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the School of Engineering has a vacancy for an Engineering Lab Supervisor. The Engineering Computer Lab Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising and performing a variety of tasks that would ensure proper operation, maintenance and development of the Engineering Computing facilities. The Supervisor will also provide support for other activities related to the academic operation of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)

Responsibilities
- Plan, operate, and maintain the computing facilities including hardware, peripherals, network and software
- Organize and schedule the various lab sessions, and supervise the lab assistants’ work
- Assist students in lab projects and Capstone Design projects
- Assist in academic assessment activities
- Assist in ECE students’ orientation and advising
- Assist the ECE Chair in developing and implementing data/record management systems
- Develop and manage pertinent web content
- Perform other departmental related work as per supervisor’s request

Requirements
- BE or MS in Computer Engineering or equivalent form a recognized university
- Between 4 and 6 years of work experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, faculty and staff
- Relevant experience in academic environment is highly desirable

Data Center Supervisor - AUB - Lebanon

The IT Operations Department has an opening for the position of Data Center Supervisor, in grade 12. Since this provides an opportunity for promotion from within, please circulate this information and/or post it in your area of jurisdiction so that those interested and having the minimum qualifications may apply in writing to the Human Resources Department (Employment Section) not later than November 10, 2011.

The Data Center supervisor is responsible for designing, operating, monitoring and maintaining industry-leading, geographically dispersed, Tier-3 and/or Tier4 green Data Operations Centers for AUB and AUBMC.

Requirements
- BE or BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, electro-mechanical or related field.
- Five years experience in computer operations and facilities management.
- Good knowledge of data centers design , building management systems, capacity planning and industry best practices
- Good knowledge of data centers standards compliance and specifications, including but not limited to ASHRAE TC 9.9, EIA/TIA, NFPA, ISO, etc…
- Good maintenance and operating knowledge of data center equipment such as Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units, precision air-conditioning units, fire suppression, physical access controls etc.
- Fair knowledge in UNIX, Windows and AS400 servers
- Good knowledge in data communication and networking concepts and technologies
- Good time management skills, attention to detail and ability to create a work product with highly accurate results.
- Excellent knowledge of English and well developed verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work varying hours and shifts including holidays, weekends and on-call 24 hours/day shifts.
