Systems Administrator - IMD - Switzerland

The Systems Admin’s role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of IS systems and servers that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by maintaining, supporting, monitoring and optimizing the servers that runs IMD’s business applications.
The Position

- Manage and administer all Linux servers and the applications they are running
- Recommend and execute modifications to systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and security on systems
- Manage storage infrastructure, EMC SAN/NAS (LUN Creation, Fiber Channel Switch Zoning,etc)
- Manage and maintain the Directories Infrastructure (SUN LDAP, Novel eDirectory) and the relevant interconnection and synchronization between systems (Novell IDM)
- Install, configure and maintain the IMD Backup infrastructure (NetBackup)
- Develop and manage service according to IMD Disaster Recovery plan
- A “backup role” for Oracle DB
- Manage and maintain the monitoring infrastructure (Nagios-OPSview)
- Carry out IT infrastructure projects
- Provide 3rd level support (Hardware, Software and on some Business Applications)
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes
- Interface with the IS Support and IS Development Departments on various technical projects
- Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration and processes
- Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports

The Ideal person
- CFC diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 6 years equivalent work experience
- French and English languages essential
- LPI 2 Certification or equivalent
- At least 6 years experience in similar role e.g. corporate IT Systems department
- Strong knowledge in installing, configuring, and maintaining Unix systems including Redhat/Debian Linux and MacOSx
- Strong knowledge in LDAP and directories synchronization concepts
- EMC (or any other) SAN knowledge
- Strong knowledge of local area network administration tools, applications and protocols including TCPI/IP, DNS DHCP, SMTP, IMAP, Kerberos and NIS
- Project Management experience is a plus
- Nagios knowledge is a plus
- Scripting language (vbs, Perl, powershell) is a plus
- Knowledge of Oracle DB 9 and Oracle AS 9 is a strong plus
- Knowledge in JAVA app server – JBoss/Tomacat
- Willing to participate in an on-call rotation
- Knowledge of vSpher administration
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Fluent in English and French
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Project Management experience is a plus
- Calm and a professional attitude while dealing with customers and other colleagues
- Able to deal with pressure and meet the deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly service oriented with excellent customer-facing skills
- Ability to work in a team, with little supervision and using own initiative
- Have a flexible approach; and accept to work occasional extended hours
- Ability to present technical ideas and solutions in user and business friendly language
