Academic Center Administrator - LAU - Lebanon

The Department of Computer Science and Mathematics has a vacancy for an Academic Center Administrator to be located in Beirut Campus.

Job duties & Responsibilities:
- Support and administer the LINUX/UNIX and Oracle servers, high performance computing clusters as well as the Windows-based workstations of the Academic Computer Center
- Conduct system analysis and development in coordination with the University IT department in order to keep academic labs current with changing technologies
- Install, manage and administer software packages required for course teaching and research purposes
- Install and maintain students’ accounts on academic servers
- Create and maintain mailing lists
- Deliver informational speeches, reports, and orientations before audiences and groups
- Provide faculty with advice, training, and technical support for various projects
- Assist in course-labs (including C Programming, Java Programming, Operating Systems, Parallel Computing, etc.)
- Assist in training and coaching students for participation in programming competitions
- Work closely with the departmental chairperson and associate chairperson on computing facilities issues including those related to ABET accreditation
- Assist in maintaining departmental websites
- Document and log all changes to system software and configuration. Maintain extensive documentation for all projects
- Perform other duties pertinent to this job as assigned

Job Requirements:
- BS degree in Computer Science or a related field from a renowned university. MS degree in Computer Science is a plus.
- Extensive experience working with LINUX, Windows, Mac OS, LINUX/UNIX servers, Windows clients and servers configuration, and active directories
- Extensive experience working with Oracle servers
- Experience in academic IT is recommended
- Experience in Web Programming
- Effective communication skills (oral & written), and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students
- Work productively in teams
- Possess problem solving skills
- Willing to work evening shifts
