Purpose
- Designs, codes, tests, and supports distributed solutions and web based applications.
- Functional and Business Requirements
- Accountable for the consistency of application code, ensuring it meets the requirements of the functional specification/s and ensuring any issues or risks that may affect the project deliverables are raised to the Development Lead or Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand architecture, design, code, and dependencies of existing solutions.
- Provide support and enhancements.
- Raise change requests following existing data center processes and ensure adequate and successful testing is performed.
- Fully understand impact of software changes and updates to Production systems and mobile devices.
- Provide direct support for product & technical members during proof of concepts and incubation phases.
- Assist, as required, in scope definition, technical viability scoping and best practice solution design to meet the needs of the product and/or client.
- Assist in, and where appropriate, review the estimation, time and cost of a specific solution design ensuring it meets the needs of the product and the business.
- Write, deliver code and participate in code walkthroughs according to the requirements of the functional specifications and ensure junior members of the team are able to deliver code within their own capabilities.
- Ensure all risks and issues that effect the project are raised following set processes and are resolved appropriately.
- Escalate risks and issues that pose a significant impact to deliverables.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Knowledge and Skills
- Strong background in object orientated server-side scripting languages such as PHP is required.
- Understanding of web frameworks and ecosystems
- Expertise in JavaScript and associated frameworks
- Understanding of networking concepts.
- Experience in developing web applications.
- Knowledge in mobile applciation and mobile web technologies is a plus.
