Web Application Administrator - LAU

The IT Department has a vacancy for a Web Application Administrator who will be reporting to the Director of IT Applications and Solutions.

The Web Application Administrator is mainly responsible for assisting the Director of IT Applications and Solutions in the acquisition, development, implementation and support of University wide software applications with emphasis on web-based applications.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages all technical aspects of the University-wide IT systems in terms of analysis, design, development, installation, testing, customization, data conversion and interface building.
- Researches the latest technology and proposes alternative solutions that help re-engineer University systems and applications. Acquires the functional knowledge needed to continuously improve the technical environment.
- Maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades the University-wide IT software systems.
- Provides support in the operational aspects of the University-wide IT software systems.
- Provides support for end-users with matters related to the technical aspects of these applications.
- Tunes the application and establishes security measures during and after implementation of the University-wide systems. Writes and maintains thorough technical documentation of the applications.
- Assesses and manages storage requirements, designs and specifies modifications of the database structure for an application and relays this information to the Database Administrator and System Administrator.
- Reports his/her activities to the immediate supervisor on periodical basis.
- Performs other duties relevant to this job as assigned.

Education and Experience
- B.E., B.A. or B.S. or equivalent in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- 2 to 4 years experience in Software Development.

Special Skills and Trainings
- 2 to 4 years experience in software systems design, implementation and support.
- 2 to 4 years experience in .Net, php or Java programming.
- Experience in Oracle programming is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in SQL, MySQL or Oracle Database.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in reporting tools (Crystal reports, Oracle discoverer, etc).
- Knowledge of Windows Server, Client/Server and Web Applications environment.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to prioritize jobs.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Good English oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to work with diverse teams.
