Network Analyst - LAU - Lebanon

The IT Network, Telecom & Multimedia Department has a vacancy for a Network Analyst to be located in Beirut Campus.

The Network Analyst is mainly responsible for the design and analysis of the data, voice and video networks of LAU offices and affiliated. He/she provides technical support and guidance for Network & Telecommunications administrators. He/She maintains the high availability of all network dependent services and conducts research on the latest network technology and equipment.

Basic Functions and responsibilities
- Analyzes needs, plans, manages, and schedules the design, development, and implementation of the University Data network services (including the LAN, WLAN, WAN, caching, QOS, etc…).
- Conducts technical research on network upgrades and components to determine feasibility, time required, and compatibility with current system.
- Recommends network solutions for short, medium, and long range network projects
- Develops network applications and tools to speed up certain tasks. Provides on demand reports on Network records and performance.
- Provides second tier support for resolving problems and assessing the networks. Works with vendors to resolves complex network problems.
- Works as a team member with other technical staff, such as systems to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems.
- Maintains configurations of Cisco network switches (Nexus series, 6500 series, 4500, 3500,…), routers. Monitor health, create VLANS, and toggle ports when necessary.
- Configures and supports of LAN/WAN networking and wireless environments.
- Configures and supports of SAN Networks including MDS switches.
- Supports Voice over IP networks and administers Cisco Call Manager.
- Supports both day to day troubleshooting and project related activities.
- Utilizes change control process in order to ensure compliance with the university’s data center and security standards.
- Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
- Works on multiple projects, meets projects’ deadlines and works well with other trades.
- Performs related duties as required.

Requirements
- BE Computer or Electronics Engineer or BS Computer Science.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with large-scale system networks.
- CISCO CCDP or CCNP certifications.
- Experience with CISCO solutions such as WCS, VOIP, UCM, Content sharing.
- Solid understanding of Windows Server environment & server virtualization
- Thorough understanding of TCP\IP addressing and protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, PPP..).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex application and network issues with a Network Analyzer.
- Familiarity with use of a Ticketing System.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work varying hours and shifts including holidays, weekends and on-call 24 hours/day shifts on both campuses.
- Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed.
- Good written and verbal English communication and documentation skills.
- Job may require travel to LAU affiliated institutions inside and outside Lebanon.
