Application Developer - LAU - Lebanon

The IT Department has a vacancy for an Application Developer who will be reporting to the Director of IT Applications and Solutions. This position will be located in Beirut Campus. Commuting to Byblos is required.
Job Summary:

The Application developer is mainly responsible for assisting the Director of IT Applications and Solutions in the acquisition, development, implementation and support of University wide software applications with emphasis on web-based applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages all technical aspects of the University-wide IT systems in terms of analysis, design, development, installation, testing, customization, data conversion and interface building.
- Researches the latest technology and proposes alternative solutions that help re-engineer University systems and applications. Acquires the functional knowledge needed to continuously improve the technical environment.
- Maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades the University-wide IT software systems.
- Provides support in the operational aspects of the University-wide IT software systems.
- Provides support for end-users with matters related to the technical aspects of these applications.
- Tunes the application and establishes security measures during and after implementation of the University-wide systems. Writes and maintains thorough technical documentation of the applications.
- Assesses and manages storage requirements, designs and specifies modifications of the database structure for an application and relays this information to the Database Administrator and System Administrator.
- Reports his/her activities to the immediate supervisor on periodical basis.
- Performs other duties relevant to this job as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- B.E., B.A. or B.S. or equivalent in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- 3 to 5 years experience in Software Development.

Special Skills and Trainings:
- 2 to 4 years experience in software systems design, implementation and support.
- 2 to 4 years experience in .Net, php or Java programming.
- Experience in Mobile applications is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in SQL, MySQL or Oracle Database.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in reporting tools (Crystal reports or others).
- Knowledge of Windows Server and Web Applications environment.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to prioritize jobs.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Good English oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to work with diverse teams.

Lead Network Administrator - LAU - Lebanon

The Lead Network Administrator is mainly responsible for administering the wireless and wired data, voice and video networks of LAU, optimizing network performance, troubleshooting network problems, and maintaining high availability of network dependent services. This position will be located in Beirut Campus. Commuting to Byblos is required.
Basic Functions and Responsibilities:

- Administers over 1000 wireless access point and over 5,000 wireless users. He/she shall ensure that the coverage and capacity are sufficient for all devices, wireless channels are properly maintained, quality of service is maintained properly, voice over WIFI is working properly, BYOD and MDM are being implemented, managed and maintained properly
- Administers and documents the data network infrastructure, including, LAN (Switches), WAN (routers, Multiplexer), Internet (routers) and remote access
- Administers campus network events, identifies network problems and applies problem-solving skills to resolve them, often under tight time constraints
- Works as a team member with other technical staff, such as systems to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems
- Maintains configurations of Cisco network switches (Nexus series, 6500 series, 4500, 3500,..), routers. Monitors health, create VLANS, and toggle ports when necessary
- Configures and supports of SAN Networks including MDS switches
- Supports Voice over IP networks and administers Cisco Call Manager
- Supports both day to day troubleshooting and projects related activities
- Utilizes change control process in order to ensure compliance with the university’s data center and security standards
- Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks
- Works on multiple projects, meets projects’ deadlines and works well with other trades
- Performs related duties as required

Position Requirements:

- BE Computer/ Electronics Engineer or BS computer Science or equivalent Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience with large-scale system networks
- CISCO CCNP certification is required.
- Experience with CISCO solutions such as PRIME, ISE, VOIP and UCM
- Experience with Wireless WIFI coverage, radio interference, antenna selection,..
- Solid understanding of Windows Server environment & server virtualization
- Thorough understanding of TCP\IP addressing and protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, PPP,…).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex application and network issues with a Network Analyzer
- Familiarity with use of a Ticketing System
- Ability to work varying hours and shifts including holidays, weekends and on-call 24 hours/day shifts on both campuses
- Job may require travel to LAU affiliated institutions inside and outside Lebanon
- Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed
- Good written and verbal English communication and documentation skills

IT Assistant - Dernaika Holding Group - Lebanon


The IT Administrator & Assistant is responsible of supporting the IT infrastructure and Assist the IT manager to meet the company’s business requirements, targets and policies. The ITA deals with day to day support requests, Execute specific tasks on ERP, Perform routine checkups, get involved and assist with new implementations and reports to the IT Manager.

Qualifications
Degree: BA Degree in Information Technology or Similar Degree from a university or registered college
Experience: 2 to 4 years of relevant experience

Key Accountabilities & Authorities
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, connection, printer and software issues reported to the Department.
- Update network applications as required.
- Maintain daily backup.
- Perform routine server monitoring and performance benchmarking.
- Troubleshoot and resolve all problems encountered with hardware and software. Escalate requests to the IT manager, as needed. Replace or repair defective parts and equipment.
- Monitor and remove virus, spyware, and other non-authorized software.
- Assist with projects implementations.
- Provide Technical Support to the end users in Office and Retail Stores.
- ERP – Jdedwards specific tasks:
Ensure that the POS Shifts are delivered to the head office on daily Basis.
Process Shifts from POS into JDEdwards Sales, Stock and AR module on Daily basis.
Send Data from Jdedwards to POS twice a day (morning and evening).
Execute stock transfers on demand.
Prepare palms for stock counting and transfers.
Analyze data derived from Palms and deliver the stock counting results.
- Setup new users based on companies standards.
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
- Other IT tasks as required.-
