Linux Software Architect - Intel

Description
The Open Source Technology Center (OTC) within the Software and Services Group is developing Linux-based mobile operating systems and applications with MeeGo, Android and ChromeOS. OTC is looking for Linux software architects in Finland, UK and other European locations who love to write, integrate, and debug code and develop cutting- edge open source applications and operating system components. Positions require positive interaction with the Linux community to ensure code is developed in an acceptable manner and adopted in upstream community projects as appropriate. In this role you must demonstrate a high level of initiative, an ability to assume ownership of major areas, and establish correct technical direction. You must demonstrate flexibility to contribute to multiple areas in a nimble organization. In this role the ideal candidate must be good at problem solving, be motivated and also have the ability to research ambiguous technical challenges.

Qualifications
This is a Linux software architect position. The ideal candidate should have established skills and:
- Experience in leading or maintaining open source projects
- Proven ability as a technical team lead
- Experience designing and developing new APIs for OS components
- A minimum of 6 years experience (or equivalent) in development, platform debug, or product integration in one or more areas listed below:
- OS components, including security, multimedia, device & resource management , multi-touch interfaces, communications, Qt and Qt Mobility
- OS system power & performance optimization
- C++ development
- Qt-based applications for mobile devices
- Proven Linux and Open Source development experience
- Software planning skills (e.g. the ability to create personal development milestones)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members in different geographies
- BS degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 9 years experience or an MS/PhD degree with at least 6 years of experience (or equivalent).
